This looks amazing! I just found this recipe today. I love the way you made the filling and want to try it but I prefer a homemade baked crust and want to do a lattice or decorative cut out top. Can I use this filling and still cook the pie?

No it would overcook the filling. Maybe you can bake the crust and a decorative cut out first, then pour the filling in the cooked crust. You could then set the decoration on top? I think that would work and taste delicious!
